Introduction
AACSB is an accreditation for business management schools in various countries in the world, and it is the first of the three major business management accreditation organizations in the world.
AACSB was established in 1916 and its initial membership includes 16 schools including Columbia University. Over the years, AACSB has become a very important accredited institution for business management in the United States. In 1997, AACSB began its international certification work. It first stepped out of North America and accredited the École Supérieure des Sciences Économiques et Commerciales (ESSEC) in France. Later, it also established the AACSB office in Singapore in 2009 (Wikipedia, 2013 ). Since AACSB is one of the US business management professional certification institutions, it must also accept the Recognition Review implemented by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), with a cycle of ten years. Evaluation once. AACSB passed the evaluation in 2002 and 2013 (CHEA, 2013).
The purpose of AACSB is “to promote the quality of management education in the world through certification, focusing on leadership and value services” (AACSB, n.d.a).
The Institute passed the iSER (Initial Self-Assessment Report) in November 2019.

AACSB certification standard
- AACSB announced the latest certification standards in April 2013, reorganizing the original 21 parts of the three major standards, modifying them into 15 parts of the four major standards, and adding new elements. The 15 standards are as follows (AACSB, 2013c):
Std1: Mission, impact, and innovation
- Std2: Intellectual contributions, impact, and alignment with mission
- Std3: Financial strategies and allocation of resources
Std4: Student admissions, progression, and career development
Std5: Faculty sufficiency and deployment
- Std6: Faculty management and support
- Std7: Professional staff sufficiency and deployment
- Std8: Curricula management and assurance of learning
- Std9: Curriculum content
- Std10: Student-faculty interactions
- Std11: Degree program educational level, structure, and equivalence
- Std12: Teaching effectiveness
- Std13: Student academic and professional engagement
- Std14: Executive education
- Std15: Faculty qualifications and engagement
AACSB certification process
- There are four stages to the certification process
Apply for membership and pay the annual fee.
After passing the audit and becoming a full member, you can start participating in certification-related seminars.
Submit the Eligibility Application to the PreAccreditation Committee (PAC).
PAC assigned Mentor to visit the school.
Mentor assisted the school to complete the Initial Self Evaluation Report (iSER) within two years.
After iSER passes, it enters the formal certification stage.
The Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) reviews iSER.
iSER was implemented under Mentor’s direction for two years.
Schools are required to submit annual reports to the IAC.
File a formal certification application.
IAC assigns Team Chair to guide school in preparing Self-Evaluation Report (SER)
Pay SER.
After the SER review, the Peer Review Team (PRT) visited the school on the spot.
Become a certified member by the board of directors.
Maintenance of Accreditation (every 5 years)
Continuous correction and implementation of SAP.
Submit the Annual Maintenance Report every year.
